The AMSSM is committed to prevention of injuries at all levels. To further that aim, the AMSSM has partnered on several injury prevention initiatives that range from grant opportunities to patient education.
STOP Sports Injury Program>> A public outreach program sponsored by AOSSM focusing on youth sports injury, prevention, treatment and long-term consequences.
CDC Heads Up Concussion Awareness>> Free tools for youth and high school sports coaches, parents, athletes and health care professionals that provide information on preventing, recognizing and responding to a concussion.
Choosing Wisely>> A list of Five Things Physicians and Patients Should Question regarding clinical recommendations, produced in collaboration with AMSSM and the Choosing Wisely campaign.
Exercise is Medicine>> An initiative sponsored by ACSM that calls on health care providers to assess and review every patient’s physical activity program at every visit.
National Conference of State Legislators>> AMSSM attends an annual conference to educate state legislators on issues impacting sports medicine and patients.
Safe Kids>> AMSSM has partnered with Safe Kids in its effort to reach the youth sports world with safety messages and preventative practices.
Youth Sports Safety Alliance>> The National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) has spearheaded an alliance to address the youth sports safety crisis.
