Margot Putukian received her B.S. degree in Biology from Yale University, where she participated in soccer and lacrosse, and her M.D. from Boston University. She completed her internship and residency in Primary Care Internal Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, and her fellowship in sports medicine at Michigan State University, in East Lansing, MI. Margot worked as a team physician and the Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine at Penn State University for almost 11 years before starting her current position in January 2004 as the Director of Athletic Medicine and Head Team Physician for Princeton University. Dr. Putukian is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine. Margot is a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), where she served as President in 2004-2005, and is currently the President of the AMSSM Foundation. She served on the Board of Trustees for the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), completing her term in 2010, and is on the Ad Hoc Sports Science Safety Committee as well as the Task Force on Clinical Medicine for the ACSM. Margot served on the NCAA Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports Committee from 2002-2006 and remains a consultant to the NCAA. Margot is a Team Physician for US Soccer and serves as the Head Team Physician for the US Men's Lacrosse Team. Dr. Putukian has served as editor for several books, including Netter's Sports Medicine, and has authored several articles, chapters and given national and international presentations on several topics in Sports Medicine including the female athlete triad, sport specific issues in soccer, and a variety of team physician issues. She has been a leader in concussion, with involvement in the Team Physician Consensus Statements, the NATA position Stand, as well as the Zurich International Consensus Conference on Concussion. Margot has been on the US Lacrosse Sports Science & Safety Committee since 2004, and in 2009 became the Chair for this committee. She is also currently on the NFL's Head, Neck & Spine Committee, serving as the Chair of the Return to Play Subcommittee.
